BREAST CANCER WALKLAYETTE KITS
Gethsemane will again participate in the annual Ingathering for the
Wisconsin Annual Conference in June. Your Mission Committee has chosen the
project of Layette Kits which will be distributed by the Conference through
UMCOR. Gethsemane’s project will run through May 15. The items in the
Layette Kits are very basic and specific for use world wide and must be
new. Due to difficulty in finding some required items and quantity in
packages, we are requesting monetary donations for the Mission Committee to
do the purchasing. The value of a Layette Kit is estimated at $35 but
donations in any amount will be accepted. Please make checks payable to
Gethsemane UMC and indicate Layette Kit in the memo line. Our goal is 25
kits!
Reasonably priced knitted baby sweaters for the kit are difficult to find. If you or others you know like to knit, we welcome donations of simple infant sweaters that open down the front. They must be new. A suggested knitting pattern is available, and we need to receive the completed sweaters by May 15. Please contact Bobbie Kuhnke if you are interested in knitting. In lieu of knit sweaters, we will purchase infant hooded sweatshirts which are acceptable to UMCOR.
Those in the congregation who like hands on mission work can help the committee with assembling the kits after May 15. Packaging needs to be removed, items assembled and bundled inside the receiving blankets and secured with the diaper pins. The assembly date will be announced at a later date.
FOOD PANTRY
Most needed at the Food Pantry this month:
Ketchup, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly and detergent. Thank you so much for your ongoing support.
When making a monetary donation, please remember to make the checks out to the Pewaukee Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is the ministry of the Interchurch Lay Council which is represented by many churches in the community.
SAVE YOUR CLOTHING!
Just a reminder—please save your spring and summer clothing for the
Food Pantry clothing giveaway in May. There are more details in your March
and April Newsletter.
