SUMMER WORSHIP
9:30AM
FALL WORSHIP
Fall worship begins September 12th with services at 8am and 10:15am. Sunday
School will be at 9:15am for ages 3 years—high school.
COMMUNION SUNDAY
Communion Sunday is the first Sunday of each month.
FOOD PANTRY SUNDAY
The first Sunday of every month is Food Pantry Sunday. Please place your
donations in the chest located near the coat racks.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Summer raced by and we are set to kick off a wonderful new year of Sunday
School! Sunday School begins Sunday, September 12th at 9:15am for kids 3
years—high school. Registration for Sunday School is underway, so please
fill out a form (one per family). The forms are available outside the church
office. We look forward to another exciting year of Sunday School! If you
have any questions, please feel free to contact Erin Kossow or Lindsay
Priebe.
A special thanks to all of the talented teachers for their hard work,
dedication, and their ability to educate and inspire the youth of our
church.
FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP
Food and Fellowship is on the second Wednesday of the month. The next Food
and Fellowship will be on Wednesday, September 8th, 11:30am, at Daniels
Grill which is now located on Prospect Avenue (Hwy. SS). The sign up sheet
is in the narthex. Join us and bring a friend! Everyone is always welcome.
We’d love to see you there!!
GUMC BOOK AND FELLOWSHIP CLUB
Our next gathering will be at Daniel's Grill at 6:30 p.m. on September 9. If
you are not aware, the restaurant has moved to a new location. It is now in
the spot that was formerly Baja Grill and Kahuna's, next to St. Anthony on
the Lake on Highway SS.
Our next book discussion will be at 6:30 p.m. on October 14 at Nancy
Richardson's home. We will be discussing "A Reliable Wife" by Robert
Goolrick.
We are trying to get together a schedule of hosts for the upcoming year. If
you are interested in hosting during a particular month, please sign up with
Heather Gergen.
As always, everyone is welcome at our book club - even if you haven't read
the book. Just come to enjoy the company of friends.
SPECIAL SUNDAYS
The Special Sundays at Gethsemane have a two-fold purpose.
1. To provide the opportunity for church members to invited friends and
neighbors to a Sunday morning of more than just attending church but a time
for fun and to get acquainted with other in our faith community.
2. A time of fellowship
RALLY SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th
Mark your calendars for the 2010 church picnic on Sunday, September 12th
following the 10:15 service. A delicious lunch will be provided by Zilli’s
Hospitality Group. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, a bouncy house
and activities for all ages! This promises to be a fun time for EVERYONE!

LADIES FALL BIBLE STUDY
GUMC ladies and community members are invited to a planning meeting and
evening of fellowship on Monday, September 13, 6:30pm at the church. We will
look at several study materials and set the fall schedule. Materials may
also be viewed on Rally Sunday if you like. Please call Linda Ravelo with
questions.
LADIES TUESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY
Please vote for our fall Bible study: Beth Moore’s new study of Revelations,
Beth Moore’s old “A Women’s Heart” or Priscilla Shriver’s study “One in a
Million.”
We will be meeting at Pam Newman’s house, Delafield starting Tuesday,
September 14th at 6:45pm. Prayers and discussion at 7pm. Video at 8pm.

“TALK LIKE A PIRATE” DAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH
We are asking for volunteers to make Shipwreck Stew and Peanut Butter
Cannonballs which will be served after the second service! (Recipes
provided.) There will also be photographs taken (or bring your own camera,
too!) with a Pirate! Please sign up to join us for Shipwreck Stew and if you
can, to volunteer.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Last Sunday, August 22, we served over 48 guests a delicious western dinner.
Everyone loved the meal, complete with root beer floats in a cowboy boot
mug!
Mark your calendar to join the fun at a Halloween dinner on Sunday, October
24th.
A big “Thank You” to all of our volunteers who helped with donations, bake
and serve the meals. The guests really appreciate it and it’s nice to see
all the smiles we bring with a warm home-cooked meal. We could not do it
without you!
ART GALLERY SUNDAY!
CALLING GETHSEMANE ARTISTS! We are planning an art show for Sunday, October
24th after church. We are hoping for many artworks by members of our
Gethsemane family. If you are interested in showing your work, please call
or email Joan Prachthauser. Paintings and works on paper will need to be
framed and ready to hang. We will have tables for sculpture but extra easels
are appreciated.
After the second service we will be holding a potluck luncheon with hot ham
and rolls provided. This will give everyone the opportunity to see the
displayed art and enjoy lunch and fellowship. The Packer game is not until
evening, so there will be plenty of time to browse through the gallery and
see what the artists have created!
KIDS FROM GETHSEMANE
There will be a meeting for kids and parents interested in KFG immediately
after church September 19th in the upstairs Sunday School room. This will be
a short informational meeting. Please come! All kids welcome, grades
2nd—6th.
MORNING AND EVENING MEN’S STUDIES
There are two ongoing Men’s Studies. Tuesday evenings, 6:30pm at Gethsemane
or Thursday mornings, 6:15am at Spring City Restaurant. All men are welcome
to join in anytime. If you have any questions about the morning study,
contact Jeff Thiel. For the evening study, contact Don Kuhnke.
ALTAR FLOWERS
The flower chart is located in the hallway next to the choir room. Spaces
are available throughout the year when flowers may be shared in honor of or
in memory of a loved one or for any special occasion.
KINGS KIDS
Kings Kids rehearse on Sunday mornings from 10-10:15am. All youth from
pre-school through first grade are invited to join. (September –May)
KIDS FROM GETHSEMANE
Do you like to sing, act or dance? “Kids from Gethsemane” is the children’s
choir for all youth grades 2-6. We rehearse on Sunday’s from 11:30-12:30.
(September – May)
CHANCEL CHOIR
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7pm and sings three
Sundays per month at the 10:15am service from September – May.
PRAISE BAND
The Praise Band rehearses Monday evenings at 6pm and sings the third Sunday
of the month.
DIALING FOR DOLLARS
Upgrading your cell phone? The Mission Committee is collecting your old cell
phones to donate on behalf of The Women's Center of Waukesha. The Women's
Center works with an organization called Shelter Alliance which pays The
Women's Center shelter $1 to $10 for every phone and accessories received.
The Women's Center also keeps a small amount of phones that are reprogrammed
as 911 emergency phones for clients. Drop off your used cell phones to our
“recycling” bin located in the church office. Please remember to clear all
personal information from phones before donating. For more information about
